Weather vanes. They’re all over town, scores upon scores of them. Some are small and very basic. Others are large and quite impressive.
These days, weather vanes function almost exclusively as decorative objects, but there was a time — they go back more than 2,000 years — when they were quite useful, when the direction of the wind was one of the best ways to predict the weather.
If you have a weather vane on your property and would like us to add it to our gallery, just snap a photo and e-mail it to editor@dotCANTON.com. Or, if you’d like us to come out and take a shot, just let us know. You also may be hearing from us: We already have our eyes on several terrific weather vanes around town!
Only one rule: The weather vane must be located in Canton. We won’t reveal its location.
