Shannon Needs A Home

Shannon, about 18 months old.

We suspect Shannon was shown the door when her owner found out she was pregnant. She is too nice and friendly to be a cat that was living outside all her life.

When a woman who had been feeding her realized that Shannon was going to have kittens, she called Animal Friends of Connecticut to rescue her.

Shannon has been in foster care with her kittens for the past eight weeks and now is looking for a forever home A small cat, she is very affectionate and about a year and a half old.

If you are interested in adopting Shannon, please call Animal Friends of Connecticut at 860-827-0381 for an interview and to make an appointment.

Suzanne Needs A Home

Suzanne

Suzanne is a 10-week-old kitten that was rescued on the streets along with her mother and four siblings. Her mother is one of the sweetest cats we have ever had, so maybe Suzanne will be the same (Shannon, her mother, will be featured next week).

We are quite sure these cats had a home before someone threw them onto the street shortly after they were born. A woman living in the neighborhood began feeding them and called us to rescue them. They have been in foster care for the past two months and are now ready to be adopted.

For an appointment to see Suzanne, her siblings and Shannon, call Animal Friends of Connecticut at 860-827-0381.

Nollie Needs A Home

Last week's photo from Animal Friends of Connecticut showed three of the four kittens (Nellie, Nillie and Nallie) found with their mother, a street cat, near St. Francis Hospital & Medical Center in Hartford. The fourth, Nollie, is shown here on the right. She, like her siblings, is healthy and has had all her shots. Interested in adopting Nollie? Please call Animal Friends of Connecticut at 860-827-0381.

These Kittens Need Homes

Nellie, Nillie and Nallie.

Nellie, Nallie and Nillie are three of four kittens that we born to a street cat near St. Francis Hospital & Medical Center in Hartford. Nollie, the fourth, is also healthy and available for adoption, but no photo is available.

The woman who found the mother and her kittens two months ago said she wanted to foster care them until they were 8 weeks old and ready to be adopted. That time is now. All four are healthy and looking for forever homes. The woman is keeping the mother.

For an interview and to meet the kittens, call Animal Friends of Connecticut at 860-827-0381.

Heidi Needs A Home

Heidi

Heidi is a 2-year-old Chihuahua mix who came to Animal Friends of Connecticut ready to deliver several puppies. Her owner had realized that the deliveries were going to be medically difficult and was unable to pay the medical bills, so she surrendered Heidi to a shelter, which gave her to us.

The veterinarian who examined Heidi decided that a caesarean was necessary. She had four puppies, but three had died before the operation. The fourth was born alive but only lived a short time. This photo was taken shortly after the operation, and the bandage on her leg has now been removed.

Heidi has recovered and wants to be in a forever home. She is a very loving dog, and gets along well with adults, children and other cats and dogs. She has been spayed and has had all her shots.

For an interview and to meet Heidi, please call Animal Friends of Connecticut at 860-827-0381.

And please don’t forget to attend the Animal Friends of Connecticut fundraiser at Flatbread Company in the Shoppes at Farmington Valley on Tuesday, May 3, from 5 to 9 p.m. with Channel 3′s Scot Haney and the Connecticut Whale hockey team’s mascots.

Animal Friends’ Fundraiser

Animal Friends of Connecticut would like to invite you to attend our annual fundraiser at the Flatbread Company in the Shoppes at Farmington Valley complex on Tuesday, May 3, from 5 to 9 p.m.

Channel 3′s Scot Haney again will host the event, and Connecticut Whale hockey team mascots Pucky and Sonar will be on hand to entertain.

The highlight of the evening will be a huge silent auction of over 150 items. Among them: a signed UConn women’s basketball poster, a signed Eli Manning poster, a signed Boston Red Sox baseball, a Connecticut Whale game puck and hockey stick, jewelry and gift certificates to many local businesses and restaurants.

In addition, porcelain dolls and beanie babies from a large collection will be available for purchase.

There will also be a 50/50 auction, and Haney will draw the winning ticket.

It is estimated that 500 people attended last year’s successful event. Please come, have a good time, eat a lot and help us fund our mission of helping animals in distress. Animal Friends of Connecticut will share in the restaurant receipts from the evening.

In the meantime, Animal Friends of Connecticut would like to thank all of you who have looked at our animals available for adoption on dotCANTON, and especially thank those of you who have adopted. We hope more of you will consider adopting this year.
