Plans are virtually complete for the Collinsville portion of Sam Collins Day. The action in town, as is the case in the Canton Volunteer Fire Co. Field on Canton Springs Road, runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25. The rain date is Sunday, Sept. 26.

Transportation between the two sites should be easy, with shuttle buses running all day.
Here’s what will be happening in Collinsville.
Music: The entertainment from the porch of the Canton Historical Museum will be continuous (except for short breaks between performers) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Six individual performers or groups have been scheduled. Their approximate starting times are:
Bill Benson, 10 a.m.; Eric Paradine, 11 a.m.; Sweet Heart Mountain, noon; The Substitutes, 1 p.m.; The Con Doty Band, 2 p.m.; and the Downright Music Band, 3 p.m.
Open Houses: Collinsville retailers will be welcoming visitors and sponsoring a $100 gift certificate giveaway. All you need to do is pick up a map and entry form at a participating merchant, visit six or more of the participating merchants and then drop off your entry form with one of them.The forms will be collected, and a drawing will be held about 4 p.m. The winner can spend the $100 at the participating merchant of their choice.

Canton Historical Museum: Entry to the museum will be free all day, and activities have been scheduled.
* Old-Time Photos: Bring friends and/or family, dress up in period costumes and have your picture taken. $10 per photo to benefit the museum.
* Food: Hot dogs, water and soda will be available for purchase.
* Fun: Enjoy the large inflatable slide that will be positioned at 10 Front St. $5 for unlimited slides to benefit the museum.

* Walking Tour: Local historian/writer David Leff leads a tour of Collinsville, beginning at the museum at 1 p.m.

The Valley Car Collector Club: Check out the classic and antique cars.
River City Art Center: Chalk drawing at 7 River St. from 1 to 4 p.m. The center’s Kate McAllister says no signup is necessary and she’ll supply the chalk. “Just come draw,” she says.
Yoga Center of Collinsville: Free classes — kids yoga, 1 to 1:30 p.m.; family yoga: 1:45 to 2:30 p.m.
